IMPRA celebrates 20 years at Skeppet Gbg and Fasching Sthlm
IMPRA Turns 20 – Anniversary Concert at Fasching with IMPRA BIG BAND and an Evening at Skeppet!
For two decades, IMPRA has worked to create space for improvised music, artistic collaborations, and new musical expressions. Now, we are gathering to celebrate this milestone with an evening that reflects what IMPRA stands for: courage, curiosity, free improvisation, and unexpected encounters.
A special anniversary lineup awaits on stage at Skeppet in Gothenburg—names and participating artists will be announced continuously.
The evening will be a tribute to the musicians, artists, and audience members who have been part of IMPRA’s history over the past 20 years, while also looking ahead to new ideas and future musical encounters.
IMPRA’s 20th anniversary is more than just a concert; it is an evening to connect, listen, and discover what happens when musicians dare to step beyond the expected.
Join us in celebrating 20 years of IMPRA!

IMPRA BIG BAND at Fasching
This year, 2026, IMPRA turns 20! We are celebrating by doing nothing less than assembling a BIG BAND! Naturally! World—meet the IMPRA Big Band.
Led by conductor and composer Erika Hammarberg, the IMPRA Big Band invites you to a grand celebration at Fasching on November 21st!
Mark your calendars and COME ALONG—you won’t want to miss this.
Since its inception, IMPRA has been a driving force for greater gender equality and diversity within Swedish jazz and improvisational music. This evening, music, history, and the future converge in a concert marking two decades of advocacy and development!
The lineup features some of Sweden’s most prominent jazz musicians from across the country—including saxophonists Amanda Sedgwick, Malin Wättring, Lisen Rylander Löve, Ludvig Broman, and Elin Forkelid; trumpeters Elin Andersson, Emma Granstam, Bosse Strandberg, and Nils Jansson; trombonists Agnes Darelid, Lisa Bodelius, Karin Hammar, and Klas Eriksson; pianist Brita Virves; bassist Ingrid Schyborger; and drummer Anna Lund!
The band will perform both brand-new and existing works by female composers, and the evening will be recorded by Sveriges Radio.
Guest artists include vocalists Lina Nyberg and Gunilla Törnfeldt—who were the very ones to found IMPRA in 2006. Join us for a concert that showcases the diverse expressions of the big band, in keeping with IMPRA’s vision of a vibrant and inclusive jazz and improvisation scene. The evening will also feature the presentation of the honorary award IMPRA GULD, awarded annually to an organizer, individual, association, or institution that, through their work, brings to life IMPRA’s vision of a gender-equal Swedish jazz scene.
Read more about the celebratory evening on Fasching’s website! We will also be celebrating in Gothenburg that same evening—more details to follow—so stay tuned!
The event is supported by the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
Mark November 21 in your calendar; you are warmly welcome to celebrate with us!
Best regards – The IMPRA board and all IMPRA members past and present!

New premiere for Klubb Kom In during Gothenburg Free Spirit
KLUBB KOM IN IS BACK! 💜🌹
After a hiatus of a few years, it is finally time to open our doors again. We’ve missed you. We’ve missed the music. We’ve missed those nights when you head home a little later than planned, a little happier than when you arrived, and with your head full of sound.
This time, the evening will be filled with improvisation, jazz, presence, warmth, and music that follows its own path wherever it pleases.
We are joined by the French duo LOLA & LÉNA—Lola Payen on vocals and Léna Aubert on double bass. They met at the Paris Conservatoire and have since developed a unique, playful, and inquisitive musical language where jazz, improvisation, original compositions, folk music, film, and visual art all converge.
Afterward, the evening continues with trombonist Agnes Darelid, presented by Gothenburg Free Spirit. 💜
So come and hang out with us!
🕗 8:00 PM

Member lecture with Hildegunn Øiseth
Welcome to continue the jazz year 2026 with an inspiring digital members’ lecture on February 11, 18:00–20:00. This evening we are delighted to welcome Hildegunn Øiseth, who will share her experiences in the lecture “4 Corners Impro.”
Hildegunn Øiseth has been described as a musical force of nature and is considered one of the most versatile jazz musicians in the Nordic countries. After many years with Bohuslän Big Band, she is now active with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra as well as with her own quartet. She has also created several world music projects, including collaborations with Palestinian musicians, and is highly sought after on the European jazz scene. When Cæcilie Norby brought together Europe’s leading female jazz musicians to form Sisters in Jazz, Hildegunn Øiseth was a natural choice. She has also collaborated with the internationally acclaimed percussionist Marilyn Mazur.
Not yet a member but curious about MPRA? You are warmly welcome to attend this lecture and join as a member afterwards. 🔵
