Lina Nyberg was born and raised on Södermalm in Stockholm. She is educated at the Royal Academy of Music. She has worked as a jazz singer and composer in Sweden for 25 years, but has also toured a lot abroad. Lina Nyberg has made 20 records as a soloist/producer/arranger, everything from the debut with the duo record Close (1994) with Esbjörn Svensson to the latest album The Clouds with her own tentett.

Lina Nyberg has received a number of awards: Grammy for jazz of the year 1995, Jazzkannan 2002, Sveriges Radio Jazzkatten 2011 (Jazz musician of the year), Lars Gullin scholarship 2014 and Bert Levin's scholarship 2014. She was nominated for a Grammy in 2017 and received the Golden Record the same year. In 2016, she was awarded the Royal Musical Academy's big Jazz prize and since 2020 is also a member there.
